Oxford
The football season of 2003/4 saw the fixture computer yet again being very kind to us and we took our now legendary 'first away game of the season' trip to Oxford. Not exactly a 'staggage' the weekend consists of a 'travel down' on friday for arrival at venue mid afternoon. A chilled- out afternoon in a pub before a quick turnaround and out on the town we go. The following day we go to see the game, and so ends the fun.
The weather was fantastic and Oxford itself would easily accommodate a full weekend staggage. Plenty of really nice bars and friendly people. I don't know whether there's something in the water or not but even the 'so-called' hard lads of Oxford didn't present us with too much trouble and it was found that a jocular dig in the ribs was enough to see them off.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED- Weather permitting go to 'The Head of the River' bar
AVOID- That late night kebab served in a restaurant - unless you want a second mortgage
